A little bit about Aris

He was one of the first boys to join As Sakinah. When Lisma founded As Sakinah back in 2005, she invited Aris to her Qur’an teaching class. She then later found out that Aris’ father worked as a rickshaw rider. She realized that Aris was very smart, but his family condition might stop him from going to school So, she decided to ask Aris to stay in her house, together with four other boys. With Rizqi, her son, Lisma taught these boys to learn Qur’an, as well as letting them to go to formal school in the morning.

 

Later, he was successfully accepted into a well-known Islamic junior high school in Pamulang and received scholarship for his excellent academic records. Besides studying at school, he plays marawis (the Arabian drums) and teaches the younger children in As Sakinah. Aris is also interested in martial art and has joined the martial art group, Cimande.

 

What do you want to do when you grow up?

Be a doctor and an entrepreneur.

 

What is your favorite subject at school and why?

Arabic language; because Prophet Muhammad is an Arab so we can learn more about his teachings by learning Arabic. Also, in Islam, we believe that Arabic is the language of people in heaven.

 

What is your hobby?

Reading comic books, swimming, playing soccer.

 

What is your motto in life?

“Obey God and the Prophets, obey your parents, and respect everyone that has given you knowledge, no matter how small it is. Even if it is as short as one verse in the Qur’an”

 

What is your most memorable moment in As Sakinah?

Everything! All moments in As Sakinah are memorable.

 

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Mecca, Medina and Turkey.
