Dissa Ahdanisa
Dissa is the eldest child of Mrs. Lisma and has been involved with As Sakinah since the her mother started the organization as a small tahfizh class in their house living room. She has always been passionate in working with children and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), especially the ones that support education to help break poverty cycle, because she believes that education is very important for every child's future.
During her study in Japan, she also involved in several charity events and organization to fundraise for victims of natural disasters and education for children. She likes to travel while doing volunteering activities at the same time. Her passion in volunteering for underprivileged children encouraged her to travel to Granada, Nicaragua, to volunteer there for 3 months, while learning about managing a non-profit organization of your own. She was there to help their English classes, but she believes that the children and people in Granada have taught her even more. She realized that many underprivileged children she met in Granada, despite their living conditions, were very motivated in learning and have excelled in their studies at school.
The experience she gained in Nicaragua motivated her to work with As Sakinah to provide more opportunities for more children in Indonesia. She believes that every child is special, and if we do not give them chances, nobody will find out how special they are. Through education fund, English classes and other As Sakinah programs, she believes that we could asses every child's potential and encourage them to pursue their dreams. Dissa also hopes that As Sakinah children could grow into global-minded generation of world citizens, who are encouraged to travel the world, meet people from different culture and learn from every individual they encounter along their lives.
