Muhammad Hamka
My name is Muhammad Hamka. I was born in Kendal, 24th September 1994. I graduated from Al-Amien Prenduan Islamic Boarding School for Memorizing Al-Qur’an. In that Boarding School I did not only memorized al-Qur’an but also learned Arabic and English and other religious lesson. I also have taught in that boarding school for a year, but in the middle of my teaching period I received a scholarship from Centre of Quranic Studies. I got a scholarship to study interpretation of Al-Quran. Selected as one of 30 participants from all around Indonesia to enroll in a six month intensive Quran studies for hafiz Qur’an with one of Indonesia’s renowned Islamic scholars, Prof. M. Quraish Shihab.
Now, I am with As-Sakinah because I also want to help other people like what As Sakinah is doing. I have a dream to make children home too, therefore from As-Sakinah I could get many experiences on how to help and solve problems in our country, such as providing education for underprivileged students and giving opportunities to others who need.
I am very motivated in As Sakinah, I have to do many things. Because someone said “You will get nothing if you are not something” (Kalau kamu bukan siapa-siapa, mana mungkin dapat apa-apa), and therefore, with As Sakinah, I will try to be something. Also, as a Muslim we always have Al-Quran, and As Sakinah is helping us growing up surrounded by Quranic Background.
I have many dreams for As Sakinah. I hope As Sakinah can be one of the solution for poverty and providing education for all. I really hope that As Sakinah would become a big foundation with more neat organizational structure in order to help more people in Indonesia as well as people all around the world.
